Automotive Engineering Metaverse - VR

To support a large German car manufacturer, an advanced plugin based on Autodesk VRED was created that provides the following features:

• Own implementation of hand tracking with the Leap Motion
• Own implementation of collaboration / multiplayer in the local network
• Triggering VSETS and more by Collisionboxes
• Visualization of stored cameras in VR
• User can take saved camera perspective when he presses on it
• Own implementation of high performance 3D drawing & eraser tool
• Select objects and extend selection hierarchically
• Hide/show selected objects
• Move selected objects
• Morph vertices of an object
• Create and place notes in green, yellow, red
• Notes can contain voice messages
• A screenshot is taken for each note and sent to the user via email
• Implementation of a vr menu to control the active tool
• All tools can be controlled with VR controller or hand tracking
• All interactions are shared via collaboration / multiplayer

This plugin has been used by engineers to evaluate new vehicles or vehicle parts and to communicate with international colleagues across multiple time zones.
